Certified Craft Distilled Spirit™

The products of an independently owned distillery where the product is fermented, distilled and bottled on-site.

Less than 25% of the distillery (distilled spirits plant or DSP) is owned or controlled (or equivalent economic interest) by alcoholic beverage industry members who are not themselves craft distillers.

Small-Scale

Maximum sales are less than 100,000 proof gallons per year.

Qualifications

Must meet all qualifications listed below

Distilled by the DSP

The spirit must have been fermented, run through a still located in the DSP listed on the TTB-approved label, and the label must state “Fermented, Distilled and Bottled By” followed by the name of the DSP.

Independently-Owned

Less than 25% of the distillery (distilled spirits plant or DSP) is owned or controlled (or equivalent economic interest) by alcoholic beverage industry members who are not themselves craft distillers.

Hands-on Production

Craft distilled spirits are produced to reflect the vision of their principal distillers using any combination of traditional or innovative techniques including fermenting, distilling, re-distilling, blending, infusing or warehousing.
