Max Watman was raised in the mountains of Virginia and the kitchens of Washington, D.C. He was the horse-racing correspondent for the New York Sun and has written for various publication on books, music, food and drink. In 2008, the National Endowment for the Arts awarded Watman a literary fellowship. He is the author of Harvest: Field Notes from a Far-Flung Pursuit of Real Food (W. W. Norton & Co., 2014), Chasing the White Dog: An Amateur Outlaw’s Adventures in Moonshine (Simon and Schuster, 2010), and Race Day: Spot on the Rail with Max Watman (Ivan R. Dee, 2005).
