Craft Distilling Renaissance is happening all over the world. The South American Spirits (Virtual) Summit will consist of five each one hour long presentations on Pisco, Gin, Rum, Agave and Whiskey. The Summit will conclude with a panel discussion from participants on the challenges and reward of being a distiller in the region.

An overview of rum styles including aguardiente, cachaça, and rums made from many different forms of cane sugar. Obstacles to craft distilling, being that there are monopolies or state control in many countries. I know of about two other small distilleries here in Panamá, have seen some in Brasil, and know of one or two in other countries. Curious fact is sugar cane is grown in essentially every country in South America except Chile.
