What’s Up With Chamber Stills?

January 23 @ 12:00 pm - 1:30 pm

January 23, 12pm – 1:30pm EST / 9am-10:30am PST

The chamber still was once commonly used in North America in the early 1900’s and then fell out of favor and was almost completely forgotten. In 2018 the Leopold Brothers made waves in the industry by working with Vendome to design a three chamber (click here for more info).

More recently Matt Strickland has had a three chamber stills designed and installed, and Rocye Neeley is also in the process. And it turns out there is a two chamber still which has been in operation for ~ a hundred years at the Stade’s Distillery in Barbados, which Alexandre Gabriel has been using to make rum.

We hope you can join us for a discussion with Alexandre Gabriel, Royce Neeley and Matt Strickland about the historical use of the stills, a bit about the design, the sensory differences of the distillate, and learn why these distillers have chosen to feature the use of these not so efficient stills.

The panel

Alexandre Gabriel, founder Ferrand Cognac, Citadel Gin, Planetary Rum

Royce Neeley, founder Neeley Family Distillery, Hidden Barn Whiskey

Matt Strickland, distiller at Corsair, Head of Production at Cotes de Saints,, Head of Production at Iron City Distillery
