Discover the national spirit of Chile and Peru with a look at the spirit of Pisco, and the traditional Bolivian spirit of Singhani. This presentation will introduce the historical background of how Pisco and Singhani became the preferred spirit of the Southwestern countries of Latin America. These brandies are direct descendants of the European-based grape distillates that were brought by exploration and settlement from Spain in the 16th century, and they hold a particular reverence and importance in the cultural development of spirit-making in Latin America. Along with historical and economic detail, the focus will be about the cultivar, the production, and the different aspects of fermentation of the fruit prior to distillation.
